Filter Cleaning

Once your water is sanitised properly, nothing is more important for hot tub water quality than the filtration system. A dirty and clogged or worn-out filter will fail in its job of trapping contaminants and put an unnecessary strain on the hot tub pump. It will also inevitably lead to cloudy water.
The frequency with which it is necessary to clean your hot tub filters will depend on your chosen method of water sanitation and the amount of use that your hot tub gets, but it is likely to be between once per week and once per month and certainly at every water change.
Hot tub filters should be replaced every 6 months or annually if you maintain two sets and allow one set to dry put between uses. Periodically drying the filters allows the filtration material to shrink back to it's original state and prolongs its life. If your water quality starts to deteriorate unexpectedly then the cause is very likely to be old or dirty filters.
